Employee Spotlight – Dimitrios Tsarouchas

We spoke to Senior Security Analyst, Dimitrios Tsarouchas

Employee Spotlight Dimitrios Tsarouchas

For this month’s employee spotlight piece, we spoke to Senior Security Analyst, Dimitrios Tsarouchas.

How long have you been working at SE Labs?

I’ve had the privilege of working for SE Labs for just over two years. Time flies when you’re having fun!

How did you hear about SE Labs? Why did you want to work here?

Well, a friend of mine pointed me to this cool job ad when I was on the hunt. What made me hit ‘Apply’? Their client list was impressive, but what really got me? Their mantra: “If you’re game to learn, we’re here to teach.” Loved that vibe!

What’s the first thing you do when you start working every day?

My day kicks off with a caffeine jolt, even if it brews up some side-eye from my team!

What does a typical day look like for you?

My days? Well, they’re a mix! On heavy testing days, you’ll find me deep-diving into test cases for our vendors. When I’m not in testing mode, I’m hunting down new techniques for our next big test. And yep, I sometimes jump into other departments to give them a hand with their product tests. Always on the move and always learning!

What are some of the challenges you face in your day-to-day work?

You know what they say about walking in someone’s shoes? Well, I try to think like real attackers do – and man, it’s a wild ride! I’m all about those challenges. When things get tricky, I’m on a mission to “crack the code”. Then there are days when I’ve got to pull off some seriously wild techniques or get creative to make things click. It’s all about thinking out of the box… or firewall, should I say?

Tell us about a project you have worked on that you are particularly proud of?

It was the comprehensive research on the sophisticated Russian-based threat group, Turla. It provided invaluable insights into their Tactics, Techniques, and Procedures (TTPs).

Do you have any specific advice for anyone interested in a career in cybersecurity?

It’s all about the 3 P’s: Passion, Perseverance, and Practical Experience. Think you need a fancy degree to crack into cyber security? Think again! Dive deep into the fascinating world of computers and networks with nothing but your curiosity as your compass. Get hands-on, try out cyber challenges on online training platforms – and guess what? It might just cost you less per month than that Big Mac meal you had last week. Dive in, byte by byte!

What do you like to do in your spare time?

Diving deep into physics and math by day, pumping iron by night. I’m basically Einstein meets The Rock, but plot twist! It’s Zweistein meets The Pebble in my universe. Try to keep up!

Tell us a fun fact about yourself!

I can live on cereal until the sun burns out; Watch out, folks, we’ve got a cereal killer on the loose!
